Our Mission
A sense of comfort, a resource, and a source of support...
I decided to start THE WISHING KIDS FOUNDATION after my mother’s passing on April 18th, 2011. Her love for helping anyone in need has certainly been instilled within me, along with a heart full of other qualities that, I believe, can change the world.
Speaking of heart, the heart and soul and the mission of this foundation is to be able to relieve some financial burdens for
families who are fighting cancer, terminal illness, or suffering an equally tragic loss. Money to fly a family member across the country if need be, money to hire a respite nurse for a night or five, or money to subsidize some of the exorbitant medical costs this kind of treatment entails.
I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of help and generosity that came my way after my mother died. Feeling like I had nowhere to turn and not knowing which end was up, friends, family, and strangers, reached out and offered anything they could! THAT is what THE WISHING
KIDS FOUNDATION will provide, a sense of comfort, a source of support, and a resource to help ease the inevitable hardships, financial and otherwise, that come along with such a struggle.
Stage Four Lung Cancer, or any terminal illness, can be a long or short-term road. If it weren’t for all of the beautiful people who so graciously and without a second thought reached into their pockets to help me, I am not sure what I would have done. They not only allowed me the financial freedom to take the time necessary to plan, to honor my mother, and to carry out her wishes, but most importantly to grieve her loss. Now it is my chance, with your help, to “Pay It Forward!”
My hope is to band together and create a community which provides awareness and support to those individuals and families with
less of a network or access to a fantastic community such as mine! In honor of my mom, and as a thank you to you & everyone for all of the unconditional love and support, it is my goal that THE WISHING KIDS FOUNDATION can do the same and give back – on a global scale!!!
